Moscow Ballet La Classique - Nutcracker

A ballet in two acts and three scenes and originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanovich Ivanov and set to music by Tchaikovsky. Nutcracker is universally acknowledged as one of the great classics of fantasy and a ballet for all ages.    It was first presented at the Marinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in December 1892 and although it’s premiere was embraced by an enthusiastic public, critical opinion begged to differ!    The ballet is based upon a children’s tale by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffman and it endures as one of the great ballets of the age of classicism and fantasy, capturing the wondrous dream of a child’s world in which all things are possible, toys come to life, flowers dance and a handsome prince transports us to the Land of Sweets, filling our lives with the magic of the ballet.
